Our Story
Shine Bright & Live (SB&L) was founded in 2024 through the combined efforts of individuals living with HIV and community members who saw the need for HIV education, stigma reduction, and compassionate care for those living with HIV in North Dakota.
SB&L hopes is to create a ripple effect of positive change throughout our state, one rooted in compassion, education, and care. We envision a future where every person, no matter where they live, can access the support, understanding, and healthcare they deserve.
Beginning with education, we are working to break down the stigma surrounding HIV by reaching out to medical students and healthcare professionals, helping them better understand and serve those affected. From there, we will extend our outreach into rural communities, offering testing, prevention education, and a human connection to care.
Our journey is just beginning. Starting small, we’re focusing on conversations, classrooms, and community partnerships. Over time, we aim to grow Shine Bright & Live into a full-scale clinic and housing program; one that honors those we’ve lost to HIV-related illness and uplifts those still living with it.
